D.I.Y. America

A couple days ago I was snooping around the interweb and stumbled onto D.I.Y America, a series of web videos that focus on the youth/punk DIY movement. It’s an interesting watch, featuring Ian MacKaye, Kim Gordan, Tony Hawk and artist from that scene. The videos are produced by Wieden + Kennedy (the ad agency that brings you pretty much every awesome Nike ad for the last 2.5 decades) and the creators of Beautiful Losers (the art/skate culture doc that I’ve posted about multiple times). The D.I.Y. America is really a companion to Beautiful Losers, since it features very similar graphics and the interviews were cut from footage shot for the original documentary. Below are the first 3 episodes, and there are two more episodes available on the W+K site.

  1. I’ve never skated (except for the one time I fell backwards off my friend’s board) and I’m digging these videos. Thanks for posting them, David.
